Project Background

This project focused on upgrading the public lighting infrastructure for a major arterial highway in Chile. The objective was to replace aging, inefficient lighting with a modern LED solution capable of providing high visibility for fast-moving traffic on multi-lane roads and intersections.

The client's primary concern was "Total Cost of Ownership" (TCO). They required a heavy-duty fixture that could withstand continuous operation without requiring frequent maintenance, which is costly and disruptive on busy highways.

The Challenge

Pole Height Requirement (12-14m): The installation involved high masts ranging from 12 to 14 meters. Standard 100W or 150W fixtures would fail to deliver the required ground Lux levels from this height, creating safety hazards.
Uniformity on Wide Roads: The lighting needed to cover multiple lanes plus auxiliary roads without creating "zebra stripe" dark spots.
Longevity & Stability: The client demanded a proven lifespan to minimize maintenance labor costs over the next 5-10 years.

The Engineering Solution

To meet the rigorous demands of highway lighting, we deployed the 180W Galaxy Series LED Street Light.

1. Why 180W? (Power vs. Height): For pole heights of 12-14 meters, a 180W output is the engineering sweet spot. It delivers sufficient lumen penetration to the ground, ensuring compliance with M2/M3 main road lighting standards.

2. Galaxy Series Heat Dissipation: High power generates high heat. The "Galaxy" series features a streamlined, die-cast aluminum heat sink that maximizes airflow. This superior thermal management protects the LED chips and driver from overheating, significantly extending the fixture's life compared to standard housings.

Operational Status (Jan 2026 Update)

The installation was completed in December 2020. As of January 2026, this project has been in operation for over 5 years (60+ months).

According to site monitoring data, the system remains stable with zero reported driver failures or significant lumen depreciation. This long-term reliability has saved the municipal client thousands of dollars in potential maintenance fees.
